Supper Buddies
In recent years, the Membership Commission has organized "dinner groups" for members of the church who are interested in getting to know one another better by simply sharing a meal and conversation together. Not everyone's home is large enough to accommodate a group of people, and sometimes it's challenging to coordinate the schedules of multiple families. we plan to try a new model this year.
Think of it a s "supper buddies" or "meal mates"... The idea is simple: If you would like to have a meal or even just share a cup of coffee with another member of the church, SIGN UP! (Of course, you're always welcome to ask any member of the church to share a meal in your home or meet at a restaurant, but sometimes folks may feel timid in asking - or perhaps you're willing to be stretched just a little by being paired up with someone you don't know at all...)
Once the list of names is collected, the Membership Commission will scramble the participants into pairs - it may be two singles or two families together, a single and a couple mixed, or any other combination - then it will BE UP TO YOU. You'll receive the name and number of another member of FCC and be asked to get together at any home you choose. You can meet for breakfast, lunch or dinner; meet in a home or local restaurant. The primary goal is to just help facilitate members and visitors of our congregation getting to know each other better.
For those who are interested, Pastor Cynthia will provide a "prayer partner" handout to help your conversation begin. You are encouraged to share a prayer concern with each other and either pray together or promise to pray fore each other after you have met. You are also welcome simply to visit informally.
Each "supper buddy" pair will meet one time. Each participant will be paired up three times throughout the year, so you'll have the chance to meet three other households from FCC.
