Pastor's Blog
Recently, a member of FCC Casper told me stories of a great family reunion....
Relatives came from near and far to the old family homestead.... lots of food, lots of stories, remembering the past and glimpsing the future....
Tomorrow my husband and I will head to Indianapolis for a different sort of "family reunion" - the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Thousands of Disciples will gather from across the U.S. and Canada and around the world. There will be worship and business, study and service - fellowship time around the Table (both lifting up bread and wine in worship and lifting up countless celebrations of God's presence in informal gatherings at area restaurants). The highlight of Assembly for me is always simply the chance to see friends from across the country - classmates from seminary, kids from summer camps long ago now all grown up, folks we know from other regions.
What a blessing it is for Christians to gather each Sunday for a "family reunion" of sorts... we may not always get along, but we always belong together - wherever the Word is spoken, the Bread is broken - wherever "two or three gather" in Christ's name, God is there in the midst of us.
May you not miss the chance to spend time with YOUR Church "Family" SOON!!!
Blessings,
Pastor Cynthia
