Pastor's Blog
Last week, I gazed out of my office window, giving thanks to God throughout the day for the beauty of sunlight streaming through golden aspen leaves. Just a week later – the trees are bare and Casper Mountain has turned white.
How quickly weather changes!
We were blessed with a truly unusually nice autumn this year. Thanks to the nice temperatures and sunny days (and lack of any snow in October!) the Pumpkin Patch had a record year.
It seems the “weather” can change quickly in a congregation too…. It only takes one person to stir up conflict if others are willing to play the negativity game.
Will God’s SONlight shine through you today?
I am honored to be serving a congregation where – even when the “temperature” isn’t always sunny – people genuinely listen to one another’s concerns and invest the energy needed to work through a diversity of opinions to try to discern God’s will.
CHANGE is hard. We are often tempted to think that, in a constantly changing world, church is the one place where things will remain constant. Yet we need to remember that it is GOD who is constant! In a changing world, the church will indeed change. Like a ship altering its course to continue following the polar star on a stormy sea, the church must adjust the ways we do ministry in order to continue truly following God.
Let’s pray today for churches that are changing – whether gracefully or with struggle, that they (we) may stay true to God’s leading.
We miss you so much! Mark mentioned the link when I met with him today, and then I saw your email mentioning that your church was featured on the site. God is working!
I pray all good for you and your congregation and love reading your loving and well-thought out perspective on change. You always calm my heart.
Just got done with a Cursillo weekend yesterday and remembered fondly #861 when I made my weekend and you were there!
Blessings and peace to you,
Jen
I was just looking for something on the Diciples website that I have been procrastinating for a couple of months and to my surprise there was a picture and a link to your church. I have a feeling God is at work :-) You have probably heard but last week Greg announced his resignation, so as of January 1st our church will be undergoing another significant change. Please pray for us and know that we continue to lift you up in our prayers. In Christ's love, Mark
