Pastor's Blog
It’s been a stormy week in Casper…. Wednesday morning, when I left the house for coffee with some other pastors, I was wearing sandals and a short-sleeved blouse. Before long, I was headed back home to switch to a turtleneck and jacket. It seems that Spring in Wyoming comes in short bursts, alternating with reminders of winter.
Sometimes our spiritual lives are “stormy” too.
I invite you to pray for:
People living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers who can easily become exhausted, expectant mothers, teenagers who struggle to make good decisions and fail, parents who feel stretched too thin, aging men who live alone, middle-aged women carrying the burden of their extended family, members of AA who support one another, someone who adopted a new dog and someone else whose beloved family pet passed away, families struggling with long-term grief, those who are excited about the church, those who feel disconnected from the church…
All of these are members of FCC.
This week I have had the privilege of praying with people “in the midst of life” – just a brief conversation shared, a burden lifted to the Lord, a precious sign of what it means to be church. And there are those with whom I have not spoken, but for whom I pray every day. I invite you to do the same. Choose one situation from the list above and pray for the person or family it represents – EVERY DAY this week. Then, if God moves you, send a prayer card or make a phone call, reach out to someone who needs to know you care.
Together, may we survive the spiritual storms of life and rejoice in the SON-shine!
